Railcard deal: Save £15 on your next train journey this Black Friday

If you thought Black Friday was just about cheap phones and half-price air fryers, you’d be wrong. It’s a time of year when you can save big on everything, including your rail tickets. Head over to Trainline, the UK-based digital rail and coach technology platform, and you’ll find that you can knock GBP15 off your next train journey if you buy a Railcard over the Black Friday weekend.

The deal runs from now until 28 November, which is Cyber Monday to you and me. Buy from Trainline

A quick scan of the terms and conditions reveals that you’ll need to spend at least GBP30 on your journey for the discount to be applied. Of course, as anyone who’s travelled around the UK on public transport in recent years will attest, it’s really not hard to hit that figure.

You’ll also need to book your journey before 31 December, or before 225,000 people have claimed the resulting promo code. Whichever comes first. There doesn’t seem to be a limit on when the actual journey has to be booked, however, so feel free to make like Michael Portillo and plan your epic train journey well in advance.

That’s generally the cheapest way to travel by rail anyway. Also note that this deal can’t be used against season tickets, coach tickets, or non-UK train tickets – including the Eurostar service. It’s local one-off journeys only.

To take advantage of the offer you’ll obviously need to set up a Trainline account if you don’t have one already. It’s well worth doing, as the free Trainline app is one of the easiest ways to plan and book your train travels around the country. Buy from Trainline
