POCKET-LINT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Acer Predator Helios 500

The Acer Helios Predator 500 is a heavyweight laptop in several ways. It’s big and heavy, has just about the best specs you can get in a laptop, and costs an absolute fortune.

The Helios 500 is probably the best fit for those who will try overclocking their laptop’s graphics processor, as judging by the thermal performance we see here there’s certainly scope for that. It’s a bit of a beast.

Asus ROG Flow X13

This 13-inch ultraportable with a 2-in-1 design style is tiny, lightweight and we think pretty fascinating. It’s just so usable across a variety of circumstances.

This is a multi-capable gaming laptop, that’s also lightweight and portable, but can still do the business when you need it to, then this one is an absolute belter. Purchased with the XG Mobile external GPU it becomes a complete package and a really awesome laptop.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S17

The Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 does everything a powerful gaming laptop should do well. It’s fast, has a responsive and clicky RGB keyboard, and will devour any game you throw at it.

Given the sheer power and screen quality here, the Zephyrus S17 is a stunning big-scale game machine from Asus – so long you can stomach its significant price tag as a result of that standout tilt-angle keyboard.

Dell Alienware X17 R2

The X17’s combination of stylish design, strong performance and DIY customisation options really help it to stand out in the competitive gaming market.

HP Omen 16

The HP Omen 16 is a versatile gaming laptop. It has a pleasantly low-key design, but the 4-zone RGB keyboard backlight can supply a little colour when you want it. The aluminium keyboard plate gives it some of the flavour of a slim and light style laptop too, even if the Omen is not notably slim or light.

A more mature kind of gaming laptop, perfect for those who like to play games but would never wear a Fortnite hoodie out of the house. It is well-specced for 1080p play, although some of you might want to consider the step-up Nvidia RTX 3060 version instead.

This is a great way to get working efficiently for less.

Lenovo Legion Slim 7i Gen 7

The Legion Slim 7i is a success, with a profile that makes it miles more portable than many options on the market. The display is great, you get solid power and don’t need to buy a suitcase just to move it around in.

We thought that for those wanting a capable gaming laptop that’s also genuinely portable, this is certainly a worthy contender.

How the Pocket-lint Awards judging works

The winner for the Best Gaming Laptop category is decided by the Pocket-lint team, along with a panel of expert judges from publications across the industry. Following the scoring process, the Best Gaming Laptop winner for 2022 will be announced at an in-person event on 30 November 2022 in Central London, along with the winners from the other 19 categories. A Product of the Year winner will also be announced, chosen from the winners of the 20 categories and a winner of the EE Superfast Award, will also be revealed at the event.

We will be announcing the results on the Pocket-lint Twitter handle as they unfold on the night so keep an eye out there.
